JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Morgan Academic Center (MAC) is accepting applications for Academic Mentor positions throughout the 2024-25 academic year. The ideal candidate should be able to work with a diverse population of student-athletes to assess and improve their educational needs. This may include but is not limited to study strategies, goal setting, time management, organization, note-taking, reading, study and test preparation, self-monitoring, self-advocacy, and critical thinking/problem-solving.
The preferred skills for this role include:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to informally assess student needs and provide academic intervention strategies.
- Flexible schedule
As an Academic Mentor, you will be responsible for working with your scheduled appointments with assigned mentees weekly, completing session reports to provide updates and feedback to MAC counselors and staff, and attending monthly meetings/trainings. Mentors must comply with all related MAC, Penn State, B1G Ten, and NCAA policies/procedures.
The position offers a flexible schedule, with a maximum of 20 hours per week and a minimum commitment of 5 hours per week, including the possibility of evenings and Sundays.
