JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Department of Biology, in the Eberly College of Science, has part-time openings for a Federal Work Study-Research Lab Assistant to work in the Vandegrift research lab within the department this academic year. The Research Assistant performs a variety of duties: Assist in the completion of a USDA funded effort to better describe the host range and viral diversity of SARS-CoV-2 in non-human mammals. They will be expected to set and check traps, record data for animal handlers, label tubes, autoclave supplies, and eventually/hopefully collect samples themselves. They will also help in the lab by doing dissections, organizing samples, and assisting theresearch technician in the completion of tasks. This is a rain or shine (mostly) fieldwork position that requires early mornings, late evenings, and some weekend work. It is a wonderful opportunity to get a taste of disease ecology and epidemiology and will look great on your resume. The hours of this position will vary based off field work needs. Hours will vary on a weekly basis; questions regarding work hours and variability can be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.
