JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Brandywine invites applications for a faculty position as Lecturer (Master's) or Assistant Teaching Professor (Ph.D.) in Information Sciences and Technology to begin August 2025 or January 2026 as negotiated. This is a 36-week limited-term (single year) academic appointment, funded for one year from the date of hire with a strong possibility of appointment renewal for subsequent periods. Teaching onsite and on campus is an essential function of this position.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic person with a commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment, professional, pedagogical and/or scholarly development, and service to the University. The instructor will contribute to the success of all students, with a focus on students from historically and currently underrepresented groups in higher education and STEM fields. The successful candidate will teach 12 credit/contact hours per semester with a primary focus on information technology courses, as well as programming. The courses will support Penn State Brandywine's degree programs in Cybersecurity Analytics and Operation (CAOUC), Information Technology (IT), and potentially Computer Science.Teaching assignments may include day, evening, and/or Saturday classes using traditional, hybrid, and/or on-line delivery methods. Areas of instruction and/or research may include database management, networking, enterprise systems, data analytics, cloud computing, programming (Java, Python, C /C#, JavaScript, and other languages), and/or areas of Information Technology, such as data science, gaming and app development, artificial intelligence or other emerging technologies

Responsibilities include:

* Teaching 12 credits/contact hours per week

* Participating in course, curriculum, and program development

* Advising students, supervising student projects, and providing career guidance

* Participating in campus, university, and community service activities

* Engaging in scholarly, professional development activities to stay current in the discipline, including effective pedagogical methods and participation in professional organizations

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field, by the employment start date.

  • Successful completion of standard background checks in accordance with University policies.
