JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
A Postdoctoral Scholar position is available at The Pennsylvania State University to study impacts of genome variation on climate resilience in rice under the supervision of Professor Sarah M. Our research employs rice to study plant responses to abiotic stresses at levels ranging from molecular mechanisms to whole plant physiology to field performance. This position is in the context of an international research collaboration on future-proofing crops against climate challenges that is joint between the Assmann lab and the groups of Professors Julie Gray and Stuart Casson (University of Sheffield, UK), Professor Arthur Korte (University of Wurzburg, Germany), and Dr. Amelia Henry (International Rice Research Institute, The Philippines).
Education and Experience: A Ph.D., strong skills in molecular biology (e.g. construct design, cloning, transgenic validation), standard bioinformatic skills, and experience in plant physiology are required, as demonstrated in peer-reviewed research publications or available manuscripts. Expertise in working with rice is preferred.
