Our client, a manufacturing company located in Burlington, VT is looking for a Weekend Production Supervisor to join their team.
What you will do in this role:
- Acts as the direct supervisor for operations and packaging employees, including making recommendations over disciplinary actions, staffing, evaluations, etc.
- Motivates staff by willingness to complete tasks and maintains a positive attitude, provides leadership through example and shares knowledge and skills.
- Informs Plant Manager and Human Resources of concerns with staff but will independently resolve staff issues.
- Ensures staffing is appropriate and cost efficient for responsible departments.
- Plans and organizes operations to be executed by staff, enforces the production and packaging schedules, and communicates it to the Plant Manager.
- Ensures efficient and smooth operations in responsible departments.
- Ensures that the use of goods and losses are reported daily.
- Updates and maintains production records and Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
- Tracks and analyses workforce and daily production costs, finds solutions to reduce production losses.
- Tracks monthly inventory of production supplies.
- Closes X3 work orders and tracks components after completion of production.
- Informs the Warehouse department of completed work orders.
- Ensures proper use and maintenance of production equipment, tools, and accessories.
- Performs and controls effectively all the day’s orders in a timely and organized fashion, while respecting quality and safety standards.
- Assists in the coordination of quality control measures with the Quality Control department.
- Maintains good communication and collaboration with the coordinators, maintenance, planning, quality control department, and upper management is considered essential to supervise production in order to provide a high-quality product.
- Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Supports and adheres to company’s company mission statement and core values.
- Ensures all staff are following company’s policies, procedures, and GMPs.
- Confers with Plant Manager, concerning any issues and safety concerns which may arise and offers potential solutions.
- Approves weekly time and attendance of staff and confers with Plant Manager to authorize overtime.
- Ensures training is completed and thorough for newly hired personnel in responsible departments.
- Supports and helps implement continuous process improvements.
- Completes other tasks, as assigned, within the scope of responsibility.
What you will bring to the role:
- A bachelor’s degree in food science, Microbiology, or other related field
- Mechanical or electrical engineering
- Previous experience as a Production Supervisor
- 5-7 years related experience in manufacturing
- A combination of equivalent education
- Knowledge of food industry
- Knowledge of food hygiene standards
