About The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Patent Agent with a Ph.D. in the biological sciences to join our Intellectual Property client in the Boston office. In this role, you will focus on patent prosecution within the biotechnology sector. You will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge biotech innovations and assist clients in building robust intellectual property portfolios.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage patent portfolios and coordinate prosecution efforts with foreign associates across various jurisdictions.
- Draft office action responses and prosecute patent applications.
- Collaborate with scientists and inventors to draft patent applications.
- Assess scientific literature, patents, and patent application documents in various biology-related fields.
- Conduct patent-landscape and freedom-to-operate searches and assist with the analysis.
- Support IP diligence for biotech investments, including initial public offerings (IPOs) and other capital markets transactions.
- USPTO admission required.
- Ph.D. in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- 2 years of patent prosecution experience preferred.
- Experience drafting patent applications from invention disclosure forms and/or inventor interviews with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to both scientists and non-scientists.
