The Peregrine Fund (TPF) protects the earth’s 559 species of raptors, partnering with local people on five continents to inspire action and preserve essential habitats. Support comes from donors, corporations, and government grants. We were founded in 1970 to rescue the Peregrine Falcon from extinction by pioneering ways to breed and release them across North America. POSITION SUMMARY
This position will work closely with senior leadership to provide administrative support for all of our international operations. Currently, we have teams based in 8 countries, including approximately 130 staff outside of the US, and major conservation programs in 5 countries. We are in a period of substantial growth and we anticipate expansion of international staff and programs into new countries within the next decade. This position will be critical to administering existing and growing programs. This position will directly oversee diverse administrative tasks, including the below duties and responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contribute to shaping the organizational structure and strategy for international sectors of The Peregrine Fund, driving growth and continuous improvement and innovation in the organization's systems and processes.
- Stay abreast and interpret the evolving needs of the growing organization and act as a strategic partner to senior leadership in developing and implementing new approaches to large project management, including budgeting, execution, and monitoring.
- Advise senior leadership on organizational issues related to effective administration and operations.
- Work with relevant staff and departments to develop appropriate institutional procedures for managing the planning and implementation of complex international conservation projects.
- Ensure international operations comply with outside regulatory and legal requirements as well as internal policies and bylaws.
- Ensure that adequate finance and administration systems and procedures are operational throughout international programs.
- In coordination with our conservation and accounting personnel, contribute to the review of financial reports, budget planning, etc.
- In coordination with our Human Resources (HR) staff, help to ensure the development and implementation of financial procedures aligned with the standards of TPF.
- In coordination with our accounting staff, prepare and facilitate internal and external financial audits.
- Draft, review, and advise on contracts with governments, corporations, or NGOs.
- Work with Programs and with the advice of legal counsel, as needed, to ensure legal compliance and oversee technical administration of international grant programs.
- Work with our HR and leadership to develop and monitor a coherent compensation philosophy for TPFs international operations.
- Work with Program and HR teams, and with the advice of local legal counsel as needed, to ensure international (non-USA based) staff, contractors, volunteers, etc. are legally compensated following all applicable laws.
- Work with Program and HR teams to create and update employee handbooks in each international (non-USA based) country containing operational programs/employees.
- Work with our domestic Administration team to ensure TPF’s international operations comply with U.S. and foreign tax requirements.
- Work with Programs and with the advice of local legal counsel, as needed, to ensure that TPFs subsidiary organizations established outside of the USA comply with all applicable laws.
- Facilitate new subsidiary organizations in countries as TPFs operations grow.
- Assist Finance, Accounting and Programs in setting up necessary bank accounts in foreign countries.
- Work with Programs, and with the advice of local legal counsel as needed, to oversee permit compliance obligations and impacts on program operations.
- Support the Development team in drafting, reviewing, and managing funding proposals and subsequent collaboration with accounting to process international donations.
- Work with Programs, and with the advice of local legal counsel as needed, to draft, review, and advise on legal agreements for large multi-year gifts.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- A degree in business administration or other related field or 3 years of equivalent job experience.
- Experience in project administration and management with an international or multinational organization.
- Financial management and accounting experience.
- Strong organizational capability and communication and computer skills.
- Ability to analyze, prioritize, and complete tasks with minimal supervision within strict deadlines.
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills in English.
- Excellent administrative, financial, human resources, and project management capabilities.
- Commitment to the mission of TPF.
- Spanish and/or French language proficiency is highly desired; other language proficiency is a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position can be office-based at The World Center for Birds of Prey in Boise, Idaho, or work remotely anywhere in the United States.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
