Job Title: Electrical Estimator - Power Utility Construction
Location: Beaumont, Texas
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: 80K - 120K/ year
Schedule: Monday to Friday, Day Shift (No Nights)
Position Summary:
The estimator will provide power utility construction estimates, ensuring all necessary information is available for submission to the client. He or she must understand project requirements, attend pre-bid job walks, prepare labor, equipment, and material estimates, manage subcontractor quotes, and coordinate project schedules from start to finish. Post-award, the estimator will also assist with contract administration to finalize budgets and support operations with change order requests throughout the project lifecycle.
Essential Functions:
- Project Review: Summarize and analyze projects for bidding.
- Site Investigations: Attend pre-bid job walk meetings and conduct site visits.
- Estimate Preparation: Prepare labor, equipment, and material estimates for projects.
- Project Scheduling: Create resource-driven project schedules according to client specifications.
- Change Order Support: Assist project managers in preparing change order requests.
- Document Analysis: Analyze and interpret bid documents and construction drawings.
- Takeoffs: Prepare takeoffs for below-grade work (e.g., concrete foundations, grounding, conduit, cable tray).
- Subcontractor Management: Manage subcontractor submittals for site work and other related tasks.
- Quote Requests: Submit material quote requests as needed.
- Communication: Communicate complex issues clearly through written reports and presentations.
- Problem Solving: Analyze and evaluate project data to resolve potential issues.
- Software Proficiency: Utilize Microsoft Excel, Sage Timberline Estimating, and Microsoft Projects for estimating and scheduling.
Minimum Requirements:
Experience: 5 years of Electrical/Power Utility estimating experience, specifically in Transmission, Substation, and Distribution projects
Skills:
- Proficiency in reviewing and interpreting electrical bid documents and construction drawings
- Strong understanding of project estimations, including labor, materials, and equipment
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Experience with estimating and scheduling software (Microsoft Excel, Sage Timberline Estimating, Microsoft Projects)
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, and use hands and fingers for various tasks
- Occasional exposure to extreme conditions at construction job sites, including fumes, airborne particles, mechanical parts, and vibration
- Noise level on job sites can be loud
