POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

BRAND EXPERIENCE & BEASTRO SERVICE (not limited to)

  • Be friendly and courteous to customers, suppliers and co-workers.
  • Respond to all customer comments and complaints positively and professionally, using active listening skills.
  • Greet customers with a warm welcome and smile within 15-30 seconds from when they entered into the store, walk over to them, begin to establish a relationship or ask an open ended question while keeping the 6 Steps to a Perfect Purchase in mind.
  • Greet all dogs as if they were your own family member. Offer treats, petting, and doting to win the hearts of the pet parent and make the dog or cat feel comfortable.
  • Actively engage customers in conversation and assist in the understanding, demonstration, description and selection of our dog and cat merchandise. Assisting customers with product questions, educating them on new products and services, listening to their needs or requests; and relaying that information to your store manager or store owner when necessary.
  • Ask every customer to join our loyalty program and participate in events with enthusiasm.
  • In a timely manner, report any elevated customer issues to management immediately, so that we retain their business, diffuse mis-communications, and keep the customers' trust and satisfaction with The Pet Beastro.
  • Continue to have customer-focused relationships by using the customers first name when greeting or thanking.
  • You will advocate for The Pet Beastro while at work and outside of work.

SELLING (not limited to)

  • Utilize a working knowledge of our retail merchandise including price, any special product considerations, stock locations in the store, and back stock.
  • Execute the planned initiatives to meet our daily/weekly/monthly sales goals as presented by management and utilizing the 6 Steps to a Perfect Purchase guidelines.
  • Tour the sales floor daily to identify new merchandise and where items may have moved.
  • Confidently and effectively implement cross selling (add ons) and upselling.
  • Walking every customer to a product or item when they ask for a product specifically.
  • Meeting or exceeding personal goals of weekly KPI metrics.

SPECIAL PROJECTS (not limited to)

  • Execute small day-to-day goals or larger projects as assigned by the Owner, Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, or other managerial staff.
  • Assist with smaller, department focused inventories on a monthly basis.
  • Keep eyes open for theft and report suspicious activity to management immediately.
  • Fully participate at in-store events, sale days, and parties.
  • Social media videos, posts, blogs, and other marketing support as requested.

GENERAL CLERICAL FUNCTIONS (not limited to)

  • To the highest of standards execute all opening and closing procedures when scheduled.
  • Using communication channels to relay messages and get updated store information.
  • Professional use of alarm codes, keyholding, arming and disarming alarm systems.
  • Opening and closing cash drawer procedures with accuracy when needed.
  • Accessing, counting, and balancing the petty cash safe accurately.
  • Possibility of cleaning, maintenance, and deliveries with staff outside of regular business hours.
  • Consistent organization and tidiness of entrance and exit areas.
  • Monitor and assist new hires and co-workers with the cash-out process to improve accuracy.
  • Train and support new team members as needed with the support of management.
  • Handle managerial tasks when the Store Manager or ASM are unavailable.

CLEANING & STOCKING (not limited to)

  • Actively maintain the store’s appearance throughout your shift by keeping merchandise neatly organized and attractively displayed, and forward face product to maintain the highest level of visual presentation.
  • Change light bulbs, vacuum, mop, dust shelves and flat surfaces, scrub fronts of shelves, clean up dog messes, and all other housekeeping duties.
  • Restock merchandise on a daily basis.
  • Maintain a clean and organized stockroom and back stock.
  • May have to clean outside or be given special cleaning assignments.
  • Clean the staff bathroom and break area when scheduled.
  • May have to restock the freezer and be in the freezing temperatures for 30 minute increments.

  • Be an excellent role model to co-workers through upholding employee handbook policies and executing all job responsibilities to the highest of standards.
  • Assist co-workers as needed to ensure projects and tasks are getting completed on time.
  • Display professionalism, respect and courtesy to your co-workers and managers.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills while being friendly and approachable.
  • Adaptable and able to work with urgency as needed in situations.
  • Open availability that fits the needs of the business with dependable and punctual attendance.

ADVANCED KNOWLEDGE (not limited to)

  • Learn about our products we sell through the product packaging, training aids, videos, websites, sales reps and any other opportunity presented to you.
  • Take seriously and complete any on-going education and training as management presents it to you.
  • Share tips, tools and facts you discover with co-workers and management that are relevant to our products, general dog health and behavior and sales techniques.
  • Weekly coaching – Meet with management to discuss work related goals, development, problems and successes.
  • Three to fives years of retail experience preferred.
  • In addition to being personable and trustworthy, keyholders must possess leadership qualities. They should have strong product knowledge. They have to be tech-savvy and good at basic math to navigate point of sale software to open and close registers, as well as to use Microsoft Office Suite to write emails and create KPI reports.
