What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Veterinary Technician position at The Pet Doctor?
We are looking for someone with great organizational skills, a passion for animals, a love of helping people, and is efficient and hard working. This position requires manual labor, the ability to lift 50 lbs., and standing on your feet most of the day.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting with weighing patients, taking detailed patient histories, assisting the veterinarian with patient restraint, running diagnostic tests, administering treatments, assisting with surgery, running anesthesia, giving vaccinations and injections, pulling up vaccines, prepping and cleaning rooms before and after appointments, and filling medications as instructed by the doctor. This position will often include managerial tasks such as inventory management, OSHA compliance, meeting with vendors, generating end of the month reports, and some administrative tasks such as payroll reporting, Rabies certificate reporting, maintaining the team schedule, as well as becoming proficient in our veterinary software as the go-to person for updates and projects needed completed.
The right person for the job should be passionate about helping others, have a can-do attitude about life, and be a go-getter. This is a busy clinic, we hustle most of the day, and we need someone with initiative that is going to pay close attention to detail to get the job done and get it done correctly.
