Practice Director – Law Firm Leadership
The Practice Director will oversee and lead the recruitment of law firm partners and other leaders into new roles while simultaneously building and maintaining client relationships with law firms seeking top-tier partner talent. This role combines executive recruitment expertise with business development skills to ensure the successful fulfillment of strategic hiring needs for customers
Recruitment Strategy & Execution
- Identify and recruit top law firm partners for key client roles.
- Develop and implement customized recruitment strategies to attract leading legal talent.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of potential candidates through research, networking, and referrals.
- Conduct in-depth interviews to evaluate candidates’ qualifications, cultural fit, and alignment with client needs.
- Guide candidates through the full recruitment lifecycle, including interview preparation, client presentations, and contract negotiations.
Business Development
- Generate and manage new search assignments by building and nurturing relationships with law firms.
- Partner with clients to understand their strategic hiring goals and partnership structures.
- Provide market insights, hiring trends, and competitive intelligence to clients.
- Proactively pursue business development opportunities to expand our client base and market share.
Client Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for law firms seeking to hire partners.
- Deliver exceptional client service by managing expectations, timelines, and deliverables.
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism in all client and candidate interactions.
Market Research & Industry Trends
- Stay informed about market trends, law firm mergers, and industry developments.
- Advise clients on compensation packages, partnership structures, and lateral hiring strategies.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Collaborate with internal teams to execute recruitment strategies efficiently.
- Mentor and support junior team members in their professional development.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience recruiting law firm partners or senior-level legal professionals, preferably within a search firm or legal recruitment agency.
- Strong business development and client relationship management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of the legal industry, including law firm structures and partnership models.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple searches and clients simultaneously while maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal background (highly desirable but not required).
- Established network within the legal community, particularly with law firm leadership.
- Track record of delivering successful search assignments for senior legal professionals.
