Property Field Claims Representative
The Philadelphia Contributionship is the oldest successful property and casualty insurance company in the United States, having been founded by Ben Franklin in 1752. We write homeowners insurance in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. We have an A- (Excellent) rating from A.M. Best.We currently have an opening for an experienced personal lines Property field claims adjuster responsible for outside adjustment and settlement of all types of first party property losses through proper execution of Claims Best Practices.Responsibilities of General Adjuster:
- Investigates losses by interviewing policyholders, taking statements and inspecting and documenting damages.
- Using company approved estimating platform, writes and prepares damage estimates to determine the fair value of losses within authority.
- Sets accurate case reserves based on known damages and in accordance with Claims Best Practices, adhering to the established claim adjustment standards.
- Prepares a variety of forms pertinent to loss payments and file documentation, (i.e. ISO, Metropolitan, 360 report, Proof of loss, Statement of Loss, Underwriting Alerts, and Claim Reports).
- Thoroughly documents the claim management system with all communication and information obtained in the course of investigation.
- Strives for an optimal customer service experience by maintaining thorough communication with the policyholder and agent when applicable, and by issuing timely and accurate payments subject to the terms of the insurance contract.
- Prepares Reservation of Rights and Denial drafts for Supervisor approval when applicable.
- Negotiates and settles claims in accordance with all state specific compliance and regulatory laws as well as company Claims Best Practices.
- Identifies potential subrogation opportunities on all assigned losses and refers viable cases to the Subrogation team.
- Develops and maintains working relationships with vendors in the construction/repair industry.
- Handles third party liability field investigations as needed.
- Evaluates and settles all claims within settlement authority.
- Special projects as assigned.
- A college degree or insurance designations.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience adjusting personal lines property claims with strong Xactimate estimate writing skills.
- Proficiency in Xactimate.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Operate a computer and be proficient in accessing/inputting information from/to the Claims Management Software programs such as Guidewire or similar, Xactimate, Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
- Superior customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently with little direct supervision.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Must be able to visit loss sites in company provided vehicle, perform inspections of damage which may include fire, water, smoke, soot, hail, wind, lightning losses at homes with structural, environmental, or other damage.
- Must be willing and able to inspect a roof by ladder if needed.
- Position is remote with travel to loss sites required.
- Company car, laptop and cellphone are provided along with any needed safety equipment.
- Must be available to travel to office in Philadelphia for Claims meetings as required.
- Home Office offers a desk location if desired.
