Position Summary

The Lead Clinician serves as the primary point of contact for counselors and is responsible for managing SUD counselor schedules, ensuring the effective delivery of client services, and providing clinical oversight. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and clinical expertise to maintain compliance with treatment standards and support staff in delivering high-quality care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serves as the first point of contact for counselors, providing support and guidance.
  • Manages all SUD counselor schedules in CareLogic.
  • Ensures client services are appropriately provided and assists clients in adjusting to the treatment program.
  • Coordinates clients daily per diem groups around scheduled client appointments.
  • Ensures all clients receive at least twice-weekly counseling sessions (1 hour each).
  • Reviews all Level of Care (LOC) and Treatment Plan updates for Prior Authorizations (PA) and schedules all PA reviews.
  • Facilitates counseling or case management services as needed.
  • Communicates client concerns to the appropriate staff.
  • Reviews clinical discharge summaries and sends them to the appropriate referral sources when applicable.
  • Maintains the monthly per diem group curriculum schedule.
  • Assists with CPST groups, including curriculum development and documentation.
  • Reviews CPST group notes for accuracy and completeness.
  • Provides 1 : 1 coaching and support to counselors.
  • Completes all client safety plans and updates the hall meeting watch / observation list as applicable.
  • Reviews client charts to develop weekly treatment plan update recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must provide proof of holding and maintaining valid permits, licensure, and certifications as required by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services or as otherwise specified by the Ohio Revised Code and applicable Administrative Codes.
  • Must possess a valid Drivers License.
  • Must be able to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Education and Experience Requirements

  • Minimum Requirements : LCDCII licensure with at least three (3) years of experience in facilitating group and individual counseling sessions and providing staff supervision. Must have an active educational plan to obtain a degree in a human services field.
  • Preferred Qualifications : Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC).
  • This position plays a vital role in ensuring that clients receive quality care and that counselors are supported in their professional development. The Lead Clinician must demonstrate strong clinical skills, leadership, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of care.
