What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant position at The Phoenix Group?
Our client, a prestigious law firm, is seeking a Fiduciary Accountant to join their team!
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and file federal and state estate and gift tax returns (Form 1041).
- Prepare and file federal and state fiduciary income tax returns.
- Prepare estate and trust accountings for judicial settlement with the Surrogate’s Court.
- Prepare informational returns for tax-exempt organizations.
- Assist with estate and gift tax planning, including actuarial and interest calculations (e.g., QPRTs, GRATs, CRATs, CLUTs).
- Maintain and update estate and trust records and tax information.
- Collaborate with attorneys in the Estates and Personal Group.
- Respond to IRS and NYS audit inquiries.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
- Skilled in using OMEGA accounting software and Wolters Kluwer Pro Systems tax software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Ability to work independently while fostering strong partnerships within a team environment.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- 5 to 10 years of experience in an estate and trust setting (preferably within a law firm).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Taxation.

Salary : $150,000 - $200,000
