Our client, an environmental services organization, is seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist in NYC!
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate and send invoices to both contract-based and on-demand clients in a timely manner.
- Accurately post journal entries and ensure all financial transactions are recorded correctly.
- Process customer payments efficiently, applying them to the appropriate accounts.
- Reconcile daily payment activity, including settlement batches and bank deposits.
- Perform account reconciliations for both general ledger and individual customer accounts.
- Maintain accurate billing records and keep customer account details current.
- Research and resolve discrepancies related to billing issues or account balances.
- Update and manage customer profiles within various billing portals.
- Address customer inquiries and follow through on outstanding or unresolved issues.
- Initiate collections efforts on past-due accounts and work collaboratively with clients to arrange payment solutions.
- Conduct credit checks on new customers to evaluate credit risk.
- Partner with internal teams to resolve invoice-related questions or account concerns.
- Review customer contracts to confirm billing details are correct and complete.
- Track and report on accounts receivable performance, including aging reports and Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).
- Contribute to special projects and assist with ad hoc assignments as needed.
- Support ongoing improvements to accounts receivable processes and best practices.
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of experience in Accounts Receivable or general accounting, with a focus on collections.
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel and Outlook, with strong data management and communication abilities.
- Familiarity with ERP systems or accounting software platforms.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to work well with both internal teams and external customers.
- Highly organized and proactive, with a problem-solving mindset.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to consistently meet deadlines.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment without compromising accuracy.
- Self-starter who can manage tasks independently with minimal direction.

Salary : $55,000 - $70,000
