Our client, a prestigious law firm based in Stamford, CT, is seeking an experienced Probate Paralegal to join their Trusts & Estates team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in fiduciary accounting and estate administration, with the ability to manage complex financial documentation and legal processes related to trusts and estates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, collect, analyze, abstract, organize, and maintain legal documents and financial records in compliance with legal practice and procedure.
- Manage and analyze financial statements and spreadsheets related to client investments.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, attorneys, and firm personnel to facilitate estate administration and legal proceedings.
- Assist in the preparation and filing of U.S. federal and state death tax returns, fiduciary income tax returns, and other estate-related filings.
- Prepare probate accountings, trust accountings, and related documentation.
- Develop, implement, and maintain tracking and accounting systems for client investments, ensuring timely preparation of U.S. trust tax returns.
- Execute trust and estate administration, including probate filings, asset transfers, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Track deadlines to ensure all required returns, accountings, and legal filings are submitted in a timely manner.
- Assist attorneys with legal research and analysis to identify potential issues in probate and fiduciary matters.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field preferred.
- About 10 years of experience as a fiduciary accountant or probate paralegal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Estate Val Software (EVP), ProSystem FX, and FastTax.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
