FLSA Status: Full Time, Regular, Non-Exempt
Starting Pay Rate: $30.25/hour

General Statement:
Under direct supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Manager, the Welder performs skilled work involving welding, brazing, soldering, cutting, sawing, and fabricating new designs.
Essential Duties:
- Provides quality guest service to both internal and external guests by maintaining a WILD (friendly, helpful, positive and professional) working attitude and appearance.
- Fabricates, repairs and maintains steel/iron gates, fences, caging, and various other structures throughout the Zoo.
- Provides routine scheduled maintenance and follows preventative maintenance schedules, including weekly maintenance on the carousel.
- Assists with installation and repair of other types of equipment and fixtures.
- Interprets schematic drawings, charts and technical instructions.
- Monitors condition of equipment and systems.
- Assists with fabrication of new exhibits and/or prototypes.
- Provides scheduled and emergency after-hour maintenance or repair.
- Performs other trades as needed (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc.)
- Documents work performed on work orders.
- Maintains work area cleanliness.
- Ensures the safety of all guests (external and internal) at all times, including in case of Zoo-related emergency
- Works collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors to support ACNC’s Core Values and mission statement.
- Performs any other duties and projects as fits the needs of the ACNC's business strategy.

Qualifications
- Certification, trade school diploma, or license preferred.
- 5 years of experience in zoo, campus, or industrial maintenance or construction with emphasis in welding at a Journeyman level.
- Familiarity with metal fabrication safety and practices.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations regarding torch/plasma cutting and safety in work practices.
- Knowledge of the application and use of equipment, such as: arc welders, soldering irons, acetylene/map torches and cutters, plasma cutters, and MIG/TIG welding and equipment.
- Skill in interpreting schematic drawings, charts and technical instructions.
- Ability to operate a forklift, scissor lift, and boom lift.
- Ability to work weekends, late evenings, and holidays.
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
- Possession of valid driver license.
- Ability to pass pre-employment background and DMV check, drug test, and annual TB test.
Salary : $30
