The PRN RN OR Circulator provides circulating nurse services in the operating room during outpatient surgical procedures and assists the surgical team to provide top notch patient care within a busy multi-specialty surgery center.
Responsibilities:
- Supervises and directs patient care in the individual operating rooms
- Performs all circulating duties with efficiency
- Ensure patient’s emotional, physical and psychological needs are met
- Ensures that proper techniques and practices are used according to accepted standards of practice
- Supervises and assists scrub technician as necessary
- Assists in control and maintenance of supplies and equipment
- Assists the anesthesiologist/CRNA as necessary
- Documents all nursing care delivered in the operating room in the medical record
- Performs other nursing duties as assigned
- Maintains established center/departmental policies and procedures
- Develops and maintains an effective working relationship with patients, families, visitors and other center employees
- Participates in Quality Improvement activities as directed for the continuous improvement of patient care and positive outcomes
- Understands and maintains assigned clinical competencies
Required Skills
- Current Florida Nursing License
- Current CPR, ACLS, and PALS
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Minimum 2 year experience in an ASC/Hospital setting preferred.
- Ability to recognize, evaluate, solve problems and correct errors.
- Excellent communication skills with staff, physicians, patients and families.
- Knowledgeable of policies and procedures specific to the operating room.
- Clinically proficient in OR nursing skills, demonstrating knowledge of the developmental needs of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
