About the Position
The Facilities Technician is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks to keep our facilities in optimal condition. This includes repairs, general upkeep, and preventive maintenance across building systems and equipment to ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming environment. The ideal candidate will be proactive, skilled in multiple trades, and able to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently.
Essential Functions

General Maintenance: Perform repairs on doors, windows, walls, floors, ceilings, and other structures to maintain facility standards.
- Plumbing: Address minor plumbing issues, including leaks, clogs, and fixture repairs.
- Electrical Work: Replace light fixtures, bulbs, and fuses; troubleshoot minor electrical issues as needed.
- Painting & Finishing: Patch and paint surfaces, conduct finishing work, and keep areas in clean, presentable condition.
- Carpentry: Perform basic carpentry tasks such as building or repairing shelves, cabinetry, and furniture.
- Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine checks on facility systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) to prevent breakdowns.
- Documentation: Maintain records of repairs, maintenance activities, and equipment used; report issues to supervisor as needed.
- Driving: Operate company vehicles responsibly to transport tools, equipment, or materials between locations as needed, ensuring all driving is done safely and within legal guidelines.

Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here represent those that a team member must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. This position will require long periods of sitting at a desk. The team member is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The team member must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Travel
Local travel is frequently needed for maintenance of our nearby centers. Occasional overnight travel may be needed for conference attendance. Occasional travel will be required to attend in person meetings with our Mission team located in San Antonio, TX.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance, repair, or a related field.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Proficiency in basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting tasks.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods.
- Demonstrates problem-solving initiatives in identifying and addressing issues efficiently and with fiscal responsibility.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with many different team members and supervisor.
- Excellent creative and conceptual thinking skills.
Preferred Education
- A two-year degree in facilities maintenance, building maintenance technology, or a similar field
