Position Summary
The Pingry School seeks a dynamic Adjunct Middle School Art Teacher for the 2025 third trimester. The ideal candidate will bring their knowledge and expertise in Film editing and creation to our Middle School students and serve as an art specialist within a department of dedicated and knowledgeable colleagues. Our department values lifelong learning and models this commitment to growth, aiming to instill a lifelong passion for the arts in our students.
This role requires in-person instruction on our Basking Ridge, New Jersey campus and a flexible schedule to accommodate our 7-day drop-day Middle School academic rotation. Trimester 3 starts February 27, 2025, and runs through June 13, 2025.
Responsibilities
- Teach one section of Middle School Film.
- Participate in all required meetings.
- Provide extra support for students during flex and community times.
- Provide support for Middle School Project Week, June 2, 2025-June 4, 2025.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree is required; post-undergraduate work or a Master’s Degree preferred
- Previous middle school classroom teaching experience in film is preferred.
- Skilled in Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Capacity and commitment to teaching novice and intermediate-level film students.
- Knowledge of disciplinary core ideas.
- Enthusiasm for working with middle school students.
- Dedication to supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of students.
- Robust interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Dedication to partnering collaboratively with a team of talented faculty.
- Experience creating, supporting, and sustaining a culture of access and equity in Art education.
- Skilled in navigating the Google Suite of applications (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, etc.).
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the department and school community, including working hours based on the school’s rotating schedule.
- Commitment to the mission, vision, and pillars of the Pingry School, including a commitment to DEIB and the requisite skills to work cross-functionally with diverse constituency groups across the organization.
