Director of Instruction
This position provides leadership, coordination, and facilitation in the development and implementation of the Pinnacle Charter School’s K-12 curriculum and assessment program. The Director of Instruction plans and coordinates all K-12 professional learning, observation and coaching cycles, PLC structures and ensures high-quality tier one instruction is implemented with fidelity.
Reporting Relationships:
Reports to: Chief Academic Officer
Direct Reports: Instructional Coaches, Special Education Coordinator, English Language Development Coordinator, Restorative Interventions and Counseling Coordinator, and Curriculum and Instruction Coordinator.

Compensation:
This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position. Salary range is $112,008 – $162,411 annually, dependent upon experience. See a detailed outline of benefits and additional compensation at the bottom of this job description.
Essential Functions:
General Administration:
- The Director of Instruction shall direct and coordinate assigned K-12 programs.
- Professional organizations and attendance at seminars and/or by reading related professional literature.
- Provide leadership in learning about and applying for funded programs and supervise and evaluate implementation of grant programs K-12.
- Provide input in the development of an administrative long-range plan which takes into account the educational, financial, and staffing needs of the school district.
- Lead and manage the academic team.
- Lead the School Accountability Committee process.
Instructional Program:
- The Director of Instruction shall coordinate curriculum and instructional programs between schools.
- Facilitate the partnership among the ELD, GT, Counseling and SPED Coordinators and Principals to align first best instruction and intervention programs including data collection, progress monitoring, programming, etc.
- Be the day-to-day instructional leader of K-12 setting the vision for where the school needs to go academically, with collaboration, support, and guidance provided by the Chief Academic Officer.
- Provide leadership to professional staff for the development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum content, delivery and planning.
- Provide leadership and modeling for teachers in instructional practice, including high quality tier one instruction, intervention and differentiation; backwards-design unit and lesson planning processes; and data analysis cycles utilizing instructional coaches.
- Encourage innovative programs that improve instruction.
- Communicate to the CEO the requirements and needs of the district related to curriculum, instruction and assessment. Coordinate, supervise and evaluate the selection and use of textbooks and other instructional materials.
- Coordinate district assessment of the effectiveness of the educational programs.
- Collaborate with building principals to provide instructional leadership within each of the buildings.
- Design and lead the observation and feedback cycles K-12.
- Ensure the PLC process is operational and meeting the needs of our students and teachers.
- Assists in the creation and implementation of the Pinnacle Charter School’s Unified Improvement Plan (UIP).
- Work with coordinators to help design our programs to meet the needs of our students. This includes but is not limited to SPED Coordinator, ELD Coordinator, GT Coordinator, etc.
Professional Development:
- The Director of Instruction shall direct and coordinate a continuing program of high quality professional development to strengthen performance in the district.
- Consult and plan with appropriate individuals to assure that staff development activities are coordinated with alignment K-12.
- Provide leadership and serve as a resource person for K-12 wide and building level staff development activities.
- Lead and manage the new teacher orientation program K-12.
Assessment:
- The Director of Instruction shall ensure coordination and compliance with assessments.
- Facilitate administrative and staff data analysis using assessment data.
Additionally:
- Recommend Board policies related to the areas of responsibility and cooperatively develop guidelines as needed.
- Provide compliance documents for CSI EPICENTER submission.
- Attend Board meetings and other special meetings upon request of the CEO and serve as a resource person and assist with presentations of information and/or recommendations.
- Serve as a contributing member of the administrative team and serve on assigned committees.
- Maintain liaison and active involvement with professionals at the state, local, national and regional levels. Maintain professional growth through graduate work and job related memberships.
Requirements:
- Valid Colorado Teacher License required.
- Colorado Principal/Administrator License preferred.
- Master's degree in education required, with additional coursework specific to curriculum or curriculum leadership preferred.
- Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience.

Working Conditions:
Exposure/Noise Level: Occasional exposure to airborne particles, fumes, and outdoor weather conditions. Normal school environment with moderate to high noise level.
Mental Functions: Analyze, collaboration, communicate, compare, compilation of data, compute, coordinate, copy, direct, evaluate, instruct, interpersonal skills, present, report, synthesize.
Physical Activities: Office environment including computer interface. Bend, reach, sit, stand, stoop, talk, walk, and heavy person-to-person interaction with students, parents, peers, and community members.
Weight and Force Demands: Moderate physical activity (lifting, pulling, and pushing up to 25 pounds).
Other: May be required to work outside of normal working hours and travel for work related functions.
