Job Overview :
The Transmission Lines Engineer is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and approving both conceptual designs and detailed engineering packages for HV and MV poles and foundations. This role also involves preparing project scopes, design specifications, construction procedures, methods, and the bill of materials.
Your Impact on the Team :
Play a key role in advancing T&D projects by identifying active RFPs and crafting compelling proposals.
Help build and lead a growing team of T&D engineers as the market expands, working alongside other disciplines within the US Power Solutions BU (Civil / Structural, Mechanical, I&C, Electrical, Process, Piping, Pipe Stress).
Lead the design and engineering of overhead transmission line projects from 12 kV to 500 kV, guiding them through all phases from concept to construction.
Oversee the design of underground transmission lines from 12 kV to 230 kV, ensuring the technical accuracy and quality of the work.
Conduct feasibility assessments and develop thorough planning studies.
Prepare comprehensive project cost estimates, including engineering, materials, and construction.
Create detailed construction specifications and scope documents for tenders and contracts.
Provide mentorship to junior engineers, helping them grow and develop in their careers.
Collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
Work with permitting agencies and regulatory bodies to ensure project compliance.
Perform on-site field reviews during construction to ensure designs are implemented accurately.
Step into a project engineer or project manager role when needed, taking on leadership responsibilities as required.
What You Will Bring to the Team :
A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration is required or must be eligible to obtain within 1-2 years.
5-10 years of experience in transmission line design.
In-depth knowledge and technical expertise in T&D Engineering.
Strong ability to leverage past project experience to influence and improve design processes.
Expertise in using the PLS software suite (PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER).
Experience conducting EMF studies and line loss analysis.
Solid understanding of transmission structure foundation design, including direct embed and concrete pier foundations.
Familiarity with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS) is an asset.
Experience with transmission tower structural analysis is a plus.
