Job Summary
The Natural Gas Superintendent / Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of natural gas pipelines and facilities, assisting the Project Manager with the planning and execution of various maintenance projects. The role involves providing skilled supervision of process activities necessary to construct and bring high-quality facilities into service, ensuring alignment with the company’s financial and schedule objectives, as well as meeting customer expectations. The focus is on the design, execution, and delivery of projects.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist Project Manager(s) in planning all aspects of multiple construction projects.
- Serve as the field lead to coordinate the finalization of project scope, cost estimates, and schedules.
- Supervise multiple inspection teams and coordinate efforts between company personnel and contractors.
- Ensure projects are completed within financial and scheduling guidelines through effective planning, schedule monitoring, and contractor management.
- Work with Project Manager(s) to finalize project scope, perform field reconnaissance, and coordinate the construction schedule and preliminary facility design.
- Support environmental activities as needed.
- Attend daily preparation and safety meetings with contractors.
- Complete end-of-day Progress Reports and assist the Project Team with Work Orders and Completion Report activities.
- Act as the responsible person for as-built drawings to ensure they are completed timely and accurately.
- Verify and approve invoices in accordance with company policies and the Manual of Approvals.
- Coordinate facility outage schedules with Gas Control and communicate any schedule changes.
- Act as the company’s representative for all communications with the community, government agencies, property owners, contractors, and vendors.
- Oversee on-site inspections and tours by regulatory agencies and customers.
- Provide oversight and direction to third-party inspectors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
