Job Description:
Rapidly growing organization seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join the Accounting team, reporting directly to the Accounting Manager. The Senior Accountant will play a central role in the month-end close process, consolidation, and managing specific areas of the accounting function, including revenue, general ledger, ERP systems, audit, and compliance. Additionally, you will contribute to the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, controls, and new systems and projects across the organization. This position is within the Controllership team of the Finance department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Revenue Accounting: Prepare and review journal entries related to revenue, including deferred and unearned revenue, and revenue adjustments. Ensure accurate recording of all revenue transactions in line with accounting standards and company policies.
- Account Reconciliation: Perform detailed reconciliations of revenue-related accounts (e.g., accounts receivable and revenue accounts) and resolve any discrepancies or variances identified during the reconciliation process.
- General Ledger & Month-End Close: Prepare month-end general ledger reconciliations for assigned accounts. Collaborate with internal and external teams to review transactions and resolve any accounting discrepancies.
- Balance Sheet and Income Statement Reconciliation: Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts, ensuring completeness and accuracy of supporting documentation for assigned areas.
- Budget Variance Analysis: Compare general ledger activity against budgets and forecasts, and explain any variances between expectations and actual results.
- Internal Controls & Compliance: Assist in the development and maintenance of processes, procedures, and controls that ensure financial results are captured, tracked, and reported in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), U.S. GAAP, and company policies.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional business teams and work closely with the global Accounting & Finance team (domestic and international) to ensure alignment and efficient operations.
- ERP System Management: Assist with the setup, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the company’s ERP systems, including transactional processing, data management, business intelligence analysis, and reporting capabilities.
- Financial Reporting: Interpret reports and provide insights to managers and stakeholders. Support footnote disclosures for financial reporting related to applicable general ledger accounts.
- Audit Support: Provide requested documentation to both internal and external auditors, responding to queries in a timely and thorough manner.
- Forecasting & Budgeting: Assist in the preparation of quarterly forecasts and annual budgets for assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts.
Basic Qualifications:
- Education: BA/BS in Accounting; CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
- Experience: 5 years of accounting experience, with recent public accounting experience preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting systems (both manual and automated), and experience with ASC 606 and GAAP revenue recognition standards.
