The Plant People is seeking a passionate and customer-oriented Floral/Store Associate to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for taking and fulfilling floral orders, including walk-ins, while ensuring that the floral cooler is properly stocked and maintained. You will process incoming orders through the computer system and assist customers with their floral needs, including providing product recommendations and checking them out at the register. Additionally, you will handle various store tasks such as washing floral buckets and liners, filling soil bags, sweeping, making gift plants, and checking plant quality. The role also includes meeting with customers to discuss their floral needs for events like weddings, funerals, and special occasions, providing estimates, and offering creative design suggestions.

To be successful in this position, you should possess excellent customer service skills, with the ability to empathize during times of grief and maintain a positive, outgoing attitude. A basic knowledge of floral design is ideal, although we are willing to train someone with a passion for learning. You should be comfortable with floral arrangements such as corsages, boutonnieres, casket sprays, urn pieces, and centerpieces and have a strong eye for artistic design, including color, texture, and form. We are looking for someone with a flexible schedule who can work full-time if needed, especially during busy floral seasons and events. Physical stamina is important as the role involves standing for extended periods during busy days.

Key Responsibilities:

Order Fulfillment: Take and fill floral orders, including walk-ins, by preparing and arranging flowers based on customer preferences.

Floral Stock Maintenance: Keep the floral cooler stocked and ensure that flowers are fresh and properly stored.

Order Processing: Accurately process orders that come in through the computer system for delivery or pickup.

Cleaning and Maintenance: Wash floral buckets and liners and ensure the store and floral work areas are clean and organized.

Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and order floral stock as needed to meet customer demands.

Customer Service: Check out customers, assist with questions, offer product recommendations, and provide support during their visit.

Store Support: Complete various tasks such as filling soil bags, sweeping, making gift plants, checking plant quality, dusting shelves, re-stocking inventory, and taking out garbage.

Floral Inquiries and Consultations: Meet with customers to discuss floral needs for events such as weddings, funerals, parties, and other special occasions. Provide estimates and design suggestions.

Job Requirements:

Customer Service Skills: Ability to empathize with customers during times of grief and show a positive, outgoing attitude while assisting with their floral needs.

Floral Design Knowledge: Minimum basic knowledge of floral design and a willingness to learn more about arrangements like corsages, boutonnieres, casket sprays, urn pieces, centerpieces, and other floral creations. Experience is necessary.

Flexibility: A flexible schedule with the ability to work full-time if needed. Must be adaptable to varying work hours, especially during busy floral holidays and events.

Leadership Qualities: Some management experience or leadership qualities, with the ability to oversee tasks and guide team members when needed.

Physical Stamina: Ability to be on your feet for extended periods, especially during busy workdays.

Artistic Vision: A keen eye for design, including color coordination, texture, and form, as well as the creativity to bring floral arrangements to life.

Passion for Flowers & Design: A deep love for flowers, artistic expression, and creative projects, whether planned or made on the fly.
