Job Summary :
The Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the nursing home facility, its residents, visitors, and staff. This role involves monitoring entrances and exits, preventing unauthorized access, and responding to emergencies to maintain a secure environment. The Security Officer will work closely with other team members to ensure the safety of vulnerable individuals and contribute to a peaceful, secure atmosphere within the nursing home.
Key Responsibilities :
- Patrol Facility : Regularly walk and monitor the nursing home premises to ensure all areas are secure, identifying any potential safety hazards or security risks.
- Monitor Security Systems : Operate and monitor surveillance cameras, alarm systems, and other security devices to detect any suspicious activities or safety concerns.
- Access Control : Ensure that only authorized personnel, residents, and visitors are allowed to enter the facility by checking identification and verifying access.
- Emergency Response : Respond promptly to any emergencies, including medical emergencies, fires, or security threats, and assist with evacuations or other necessary actions.
- Incident Reporting : Document all incidents, accidents, or unusual activities accurately, and report findings to supervisors or the appropriate authorities.
- Assist Visitors : Greet visitors, direct them to appropriate locations, and ensure they follow the facility’s protocols for visiting residents.
- Ensure Safety Compliance : Monitor compliance with safety regulations and protocols, including fire drills, emergency preparedness, and general safety standards.
- Provide Support : Assist nursing home staff with security-related concerns, such as managing disruptive behavior or preventing theft or violence.
- Maintain Calm and Professionalism : Handle tense situations with professionalism and maintain a calm demeanor when managing difficult or distressed individuals, especially elderly residents.
