Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and certified Strength & Core Group Exercise Instructor to lead high-energy, effective, and safe strength-based and core-focused workouts for our members. The ideal candidate will have expertise in functional strength training, core stability, and conditioning exercises, creating engaging workouts suitable for all fitness levels.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Design and lead structured, effective, and challenging strength and core-focused group workouts.
- Educate participants on proper form, technique, and injury prevention to maximize workout effectiveness.
- Provide modifications and progressions to accommodate all fitness levels.
- Arrive at least 10 minutes early to set up and stay after class to interact with members.
- Use music and cues effectively to enhance motivation and maintain class energy.
- Foster a positive, welcoming, and results-driven class environment.
- Encourage consistent participation and long-term fitness engagement.
- Promote other club programs, events, and membership opportunities to members.
- Ensure all equipment (dumbbells, resistance bands, bars, Ab balls, etc.) is properly used, sanitized, and stored after class.
- Stay updated on industry trends, strength training principles, and functional fitness techniques.
- Follow all club policies and safety protocols to ensure a high-quality member experience.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to management.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Fitness Manager and/or Fitness Operations Coordinator.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, and injury prevention.
- Excellent teaching, communication, and motivational skills.
- Ability to inspire, challenge, and engage members of all fitness levels.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum one to two years of experience leading strength and/or core-focused group fitness classes.
- Certification: Group Fitness Certification from a recognized organization (e.g., NASM, ACE, AFAA, ISSA, or equivalent).
- Working knowledge of fitness industry software IE, Club Automation, GroupX Pro and any fitness club app.
- CPR/AED Certification (preferred or required based on club policies).
- Familiarity with various strength training equipment (free weights, resistance bands, etc.).
- Preferred: Experience or willingness to train in teaching in a heated studio environment (optional).
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to physically demonstrate all strength and core exercises.
- Ability to bend, twist, lift, squat, jump, and perform dynamic movements.
- May be required to stand and instruct for extended periods.
- For heated classes: Comfortable teaching in a warm/hot environment with proper hydration and safety awareness.
- May work outdoors and be exposed to sun for prolonged periods.
- May lift up to 50 pounds
