Primary Responsibilities:
The Director of Nursing is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care in a loving and safe environment for all of our residents, while helping each of them to achieve their maximum potential. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1) Performs quality assurance audits, devises plan of corrective action, and preventative measures for resident well-being.
2) Coordinate and evaluate resident plans to meet changing needs of residents.
3) Maintains completion of required regulatory resident assessments and plans.
4) Keeps up to date with, and ensures the community is operating within regulatory compliance.
5) Assists in the development and implementation of training programs for direct care staff.
6) Works jointly with pharmacy and trained staff to ensure accurate and timely dispensing of medications to residents with supportive documentation
7) Responsible for management of medical records.
8) Responsible for the recruitment and selection for direct care staff.
9) Works with Executive Director to develop, implement and update staffing patterns and standards that are consistent with community census, care level needs, and regulatory compliance.
10) Be an active member of state and national senior/assisted living organizations to promote and to keep abreast of current trends and topics.
11) Assists the Executive Director in evaluating the performance of these positions and provides ongoing feedback to the ED to allow them to effectively evaluate, coach and support the care team.
12) Participate in the Manager on Duty Program.
13) Attend all interdepartmental meetings and in-services as required.
14) Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
1) Licensed nurse RN or LPN, RN preferred.
2) Analytical Ability and Experience evaluating staffing costs to care revenue and maximizing productivity and profitability.
3) 5 years’ experience with Assisted Living and/or Memory Care.
4) Demonstrated working knowledge and experience working with geriatric nursing and care services for a wide variety of residents.
5) Able to work occasional nights/weekends as required and to be on call via telephone for nursing related emergencies.
6) Ability to handle multiple priorities.
7) Ability to delegate assignments to the appropriate individuals based on their skills, roles, and interests.
8) Competent in organizational, time management skills.
9) Proficiency in computer skills, Microsoft Office (Windows, Outlook, and Excel) with the ability to learn new applications.
10) Must have compassion and empathy for seniors and desire to work with seniors.
11) Ability to utilize and apply basic management principles
12) Self-directed, demonstrating initiative and follow-through
13) Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
14) Must have the ability to read, write and follow written direction in the English language.
15) Ability to timely and effectively follow up on all necessary requests from residents and families.
16) Maintain and encourage a positive work atmosphere by communicating in a manner that fosters cooperation.
17) Ability to handle stressful situations and work well under pressure.
18) Ability to recognize and communicate problems with Executive Director.
