About the Role
Major Capital Projects has overall responsibility for the design and construction delivery of the new Midtown Bus Terminal, the construction management of the core and shell of the new Hudson Tunnels for the Gateway Development Commission, planning for the Cross Harbor Freight Program, and other projects assigned to it.
The selected candidate will play a key role in managing, overseeing, and coordinating sustainable building design guideline compliance for construction activities related to the new Midtown Bus Terminal, the core and shell construction of the new Hudson Tunnels for the Gateway Development Commission, and other assigned projects.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Gather, aggregate, analyze, and produce monthly emissions report on fossil fuel-powered construction equipment, including fuel consumption, hours of use, and other relevant metrics.
- Gather, aggregate, analyze, and produce reports on construction waste management and recycling efforts.
- Gather and develop/maintain a database on credits for LEED and Envision certifications.
- Analyze noise and vibration data and prepare monthly reports, including exception reports.
- Gather, aggregate, analyze, and produce monthly reports on energy and water usage during construction.
- Research best practices in sustainability during construction and provide support to project executives.
- Prepare other environmental and sustainability reports, and review invoices for completeness as requested.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field.
- 1-2 years experience in environmental data analysis, sustainability reporting, or construction-related sustainability efforts.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with sustainability rating systems (e.g., LEED, Envision).
- Familiarity with environmental regulations related to construction.
- Demonstrated problem solving and analysis skills.
- Knowledge of renewable energy sources and sustainability.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data and create clear concise reports.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and ability to present to departmental leadership.
