About the Role
This is a permanent position located at Newark Liberty International Airport Building 46 and will primarily work the Day Tour (6 : 30am to 3pm) on weekdays.
The successful candidate must be able to pass a fingerprint-based Criminal History Record Check as mandated by 49 CFR 1542 and will be required to obtain and maintain an airport Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) ID Card with Airfield Driving Privileges.
Selected candidate must be able to respond to declared emergencies, including snow conditions, and work on an overtime basis as a regular function of the job.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Chief Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Unit Supervisor will be responsible for planning and controlling the technical, administrative, and financial aspects of the mechanical maintenance program, and ensuring optimum utilization of personnel, material, equipment, and other resources in achieving results.
Under the direction of the Chief Maintenance Supervisor, the successful candidate's responsibilities will include, but not limited to, supervising the activities of skilled mechanical staff in maintenance, operation, and repair of high temperature hot water generators, centrifugal refrigeration chiller units, and cooling towers at Newark Liberty International Airports Central Heating and Refrigeration Plant. Specific responsibilities include monitoring and analyzing fuel and energy consumption, monitoring water treatment for heating cooling and condenser water systems, maintaining heating, cooling, and condenser water pumps, planning scheduling and supervising work orders in Maximo, and reviewing and inspecting ongoing and future construction expansion projects. The selected candidate will also be responsible for the supervision of service contracts which include : on-going audits, contract compliance, field inspections of assets related to the contract and completion of work, verification of staffing levels while contractor is performing work, verification of invoices for accuracy and that all work was performed as per contract specifications before initiating payments, develop new contracts, revise and update existing expiring contracts to avoid lapse in coverage, ensure existing contract are replaced prior to contract expiration, maintain contract records and supply info as required for audits, process monthly accruals for all responsible contracts and coordinate both routine and non-routine work performed by the contractor and their staff.
This position requires participation in the airport snow removal program and other emergency activities on a 24 hour / 7day a week basis, including holidays and work overtime as a regular function of the job.
Additional Information
Minimum Qualifications
Must have three (3) years maintenance experience at or above the journey-level or equivalent.
Currently possess, a Blue Seal 2-C Refrigeration License and Stationary Engineer Blue Seal 1-C License issued by the state of New Jersey (Blue on Blue) or New York City equivalent.
Currently possess, or shall obtain within six (6) months of being hired a Pesticide Applicators License for cooling towers issued from the state of New Jersey or New York
Currently possess, or shall obtain within six (6) months of being hired a Universal CFC Refrigerant Handlers certification
Candidates must be on the Entry-Level Supervisory Assessment (ESA) Roster.
Must possess a valid driver's license
Desired Qualifications
Desired candidates will present the following profile :
Knowledge of repairs to high pressure steam and water generating and distribution systems.
Knowledge / experience with the Port Authority Fire and Plumbing codes.
Demonstrate knowledge of New Jersey (NJDEP) emissions requirements for generator NOX emissions
Demonstrate experience and mechanical knowledge of heating and refrigeration plant operations and maintenance. Including chemical treatment programs for cooling towers and closed loop systems.
Demonstrated knowledge of the Port Authority purchasing and authorizing document process. Including SAP and procurement procedures.
Extensive knowledge of Port Authority operating policies and procedures, especially those related to administration, labor relations and the ability to interpret union agreements while supervising subordinate staff.
Demonstrated experience in supervision of street-side snow removal operations.
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of internal and external staff, including the ability to understand and integrate customer service needs.
Understanding of Maximo maintenance management system and all Office 365 programs. Including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Demonstrate the ability to review technical drawings and respond to questions and comments from various other departments
