About the Role
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey continues to provide Agency-wide efforts to repair, recover, protect, and rebuild critical infrastructure in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy. The Storm Mitigation and Resilience Office (SMRO) is within the Office of the Chief Financial Officer and was created to manage all financial aspects, program controls, and compliance efforts related to the recovery and resilience efforts associated with Superstorm Sandy. In addition, SMRO serves as the single point of contact for the Authority's management of federal grant funding. The Office's charge includes the financial management, coordination, and compliance of all permanent repair and flood mitigation efforts.
It is the responsibility of the Principal Management Analyst to manage the operations, business analysis, and process improvement functions of SMRO. These responsibilities include the development and implementation of business processes that improve the management of the Sandy-related recovery and resilience grant programs. The Principal Management Analyst will also coordinate her / his work efforts with the Grants Management Unit, the Federal Programs and Compliance Unit, and the disaster recovery consultants
Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Senior Program Manager for Finance and Operations, the selected candidate will be accountable for the following non-exhaustive list of responsibilities :
Business Analysis and Process Improvement
- Lead multiple process improvement initiatives that support existing and future grant management operations.
- As requested by the Senior Program Manager, develop new or modify existing business procedures consistent with Agency policies. Utilize operations analysis, business analysis, and / or business case analysis in support of those efforts.
- Work cross-functionally to develop strategies, optimize analysis capabilities, and leverage technical and non-technical knowledge to assist the business / operations in their strategic decision-making and day-today management.
- Create and maintain processes and procedures to efficiently design, develop, test, and deploy decision support tools and reports used in operating / managing the Office.
- Remain abreast of current trends in operations analysis, business analysis, business management techniques, and resource analysis and employ the use of appropriate techniques in assigned work to remain current with agency-wide policies and procedures as well as the needs of Port Authority lines of business.
