The Portland Regency Hotel & Spa is looking for a Lead Bartender to join our team! A beautiful Historic Hotel of America located in the heart of Portland's Old Port District.
Schedule: four - five days a week, approximately 30-35 hours a week. (nights, days, weekends and holidays a must)

Summary: To professionally greet guests and to sell, prepare and serve cocktails and light fare in an efficient, friendly and professional manner. Assist the F&B Manager with closing responsibilities, inventory and ordering sheet requisitions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following, but other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for reporting to all scheduled shifts on time and in full uniform.
- Responsible for punching into the correct department no more than 5 min. before your shift begins and punching out directly after your shift ends.
- To act in a professional manner at all times, providing friendly, courteous, and efficient service at all times.
- To pour and serve consistent, quality beverages and cocktails to all guests.
- To have knowledge of drink recipes and presentation of all drinks offered in the Armory and to have thorough knowledge of products available.
- Responsible for all cash, credit and room charge transactions and be responsible for the individual bank for your shift.
- To have knowledge of current and expired packages and gift certificates. All checks must be opened and closed properly, and correct drop procedures followed.
- To monitor all guests’ alcohol consumption and be sure not to over serve. To have the ability, knowledge, and confidence to curtail any situations involving intoxication promptly and effectively. Do not hesitate to call for assistance if you feel it is warranted.
- When interacting with a dissatisfied guest, politely apologize and offer to seek the assistance of a manager if you feel it necessary.
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness and organization in the outlets, behind the bar, and in the back workstation by completing all side work and stocking, as well as daily cleaning duties all of which are outlined on the daily side work sheets. The bar is to be left clean, well-stocked, and ready to go for the next shift.
- To know and obey all Maine State Liquor laws regarding the sale, consumption, and service for alcohol.
- To assist in the training of new employees.
- To practice safe kitchen procedures when serving food.
- To become proficient with the computer system used in the outlets.
- Monitor and ensure friends/families of staff aren’t “hanging out” at the bar, unless eating and/or drinking.
- To always keep conversation professional with staff and personal conversations to a minimum.
- To pour and serve consistent, quality beverages and cocktails to all guests.
- Responsible for attending all meetings scheduled by your manager.
- Knowledge of Food & Beverage business fundamentals: department sales trends, freshness and quality, and inventory management.
- Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the customer service experience. Model, train and coach expectations to deliver the service standard.
- To perform any other related duties as assigned by the Department Manager or General Manager.

Mathematical Skills:
The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals is required. Also required is the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
TIPS Certification.
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals is required. Also required is the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Lastly the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of this organization will be required as well.
Reasoning Ability:
The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Also, the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations shall be required as a job description.
