Elderly Caregiver (Live-In w/partner/pet negotiable)

Job Overview

Couples and pets negotiable for live-in

89 year old 150 lb male needs assist with:

· Getting dressed and changed daily

· Walking twice daily

· Getting ready for bed daily (changed and dressed)

· Bathing (weekly bath)

· Meal preparation and clean-up

Typical target schedule:

7 am - 9 am

Wake and take to bathroom for change/cleanup

Walk to dining room for breakfast

Breakfast and short walk

Laundry and dishes

12:00 pm - 1 pm

Lunch and short walk

5:30 pm – Small meal dinner

7 pm 8:30 pm – Change and prep for bedtime

This position would be 4-5 hours, 7 days a week with 2 weekends of per month and some holidays off.

There is daily down time in the morning/afternoon with potential for part-time afternoon job.

In addition, caregiver would be available overnight in event of emergency to help calling 911 if needed.

Client is able to complete most tasks on own with repeated instruction and refocusing, but this is expected to change moving forward.

In addition the caregiver would be expected to complete normal household chores of living:

· Weekly cleaning and sweeping of house (on rotating basis)

· Taking out trash and recycling bins weekly

· Weekly review of refrigerator items

· Cleaning bathrooms and kitchen

· Daily dishes

· Some assist with laundry as needed

Client lives with spouse who does minimal assistance and dines with client.

Food preparation would be for both client and spouse based on provided weekly menu.

Minimum qualifications:

· Experience working with the elderly with physical and cognitive impairment.

· Ability to lift 100 lbs and be able to complete required job tasks.

· Strong communication skills, ability to work wearing a mask around client.

· Patience and determination when assisting another in completing ADL’s.

· 3 professional references (phone numbers and letters of recommendation).

Background check may be part of interview process.

Preferred qualifications:

· Experience and or licensure in the medical field

· Experience working as a live-in caregiver or in a care facility providing care or agency

Benefits:

· This is a contracted position (no health benefits, at-will employment).

· Room (large carpeted master bedroom with own heating cooling, large closet, furnished or unfurnished per preference and adjacent bathroom) and board (groceries purchased by employer).

· Monthly stipend $1500 with potential raise based on continued employment. Full listed salary includes room/board/utilities (water, electricity/gas).

· One weekend off per month negotiable, Holidays negotiable

· Free utilities (gas/electricity, water)

· Parking space

· Potential to host visitors with prior consent (outdoors only or in room)

· Plenty of yard space for walking

We will consider accepting a couple on a case-by-case basis.

· There will be a minimum of two rounds of interviews, possibly a third where you will be able to meet the client and visit the house.
