Description
Research, photograph and write stories for The Post and Courier Beaufort County. Story ideas will be self-generated and assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Researches stories using personal contacts, databases and/or the web; finds the most relevant sources for information; develops a list of knowledgeable, diverse sources.
- Produces visual story and project ideas relevant to the communities we serve. Brings “real people” into stories. Works creatively on stories assigned by supervisors.
- Produces visual stories that are clear and compelling. Complements stories appropriate multimedia.
- Works cooperatively and collaboratively across teams in the newsroom and departments in the newspaper division.
- Provides timely information to reporters, visual editors, digital editors, graphic artists and presentation editors.
- Provides accurate and detailed caption information with correct spelling and punctuation.
Qualifications
Requirements, minimum education level, and experience:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English or related field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills associated with developing trusting relationships and maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
- Strong organization and prioritization skills with excellent follow through.
