The Press Hotel, located in downtown Portland Maine, was formerly the home to the Portland Press Herald newspaper. This historic seven-story building has been transformed into a new, 110-room boutique hotel. The Press Hotel is Portland's first independent lifestyle boutique property celebrating the local arts and paying homage to the historic Press Herald past.
Essential functions:
- Take every opportunity to amaze the guests
- Smile, have eye contact and greet guests immediately upon entering the lobby in a friendly and welcoming manner
- Thoroughly and accurately register guests into the systems, verifying reservation, address, credit and other important information
- Promptly respond to and resolve guest complaints
- Answer telephone promptly and properly being polite, welcoming, professional and courteously
- Use the guests’ name and know incoming VIPs
- Handle messages, wake-up calls, mail, and faxes properly in accordance with company standards
- Actively solicit feedback from guests
- Promote “preferred” guest program and provide recognition and benefits to all current members
- Follow all applicable Property Standard Operating Procedures
- Be helpful and have complete knowledge of hotel rooms, function space, restaurant, other outlets, and services and franchise honors program
- Act responsibly with computer usage inline with company standards
- Protects guest privacy in adherence with company policy
- Communicate requests, notifications, repairs, and other information to intended departments effectively
- Complete all required trainings in a timely manner
- Exemplify safety and security standards
Requirements
- High school or equivalent
- Availability on weekdays, weekends, and holidays
- 2 years of customer service experience preferably in a hotel setting and like role
- Have a passion for hospitality and learning
