Reports to: Director of Rooms
Position Overview: The Dock Master is responsible for overseeing all dock operations, ensuring the safe and efficient arrival, departure, and mooring of vessels. This role involves supervising the Dock Hands, maintaining dock facilities, providing excellent guest service, and managing water sports programming. The Dock Master is also responsible for enforcing safety regulations and ensuring that the highest service standards are met for all guests using the dock and beach facilities.
These duties may be described as, but not limited to:
[Dock]
- Oversee the docking and departure of vessels at The Pridwin’s dual docks and moorings.
- Ensure all docking and mooring transactions are recorded accurately and that fees are collected properly.
- Maintain safety and cleanliness standards at the dock, ensuring all equipment is secured and stored correctly.
- Provide assistance and guidance to boaters, ensuring a seamless guest experience.
[Team Leadership & Guest Services]
- Supervise and train Dock Hands, ensuring they provide excellent service and follow hotel standards.
- Manage scheduling and assignments for Dock Hands to ensure proper coverage of dock and beach operations.
- Assist guests with beach service, including setting up chairs, towels, and umbrellas, and ensuring an enjoyable waterfront experience.
- Oversee water sports programming, including equipment maintenance and guest safety.
[Administrative & Financial Duties]
- Monitor and manage inventory of dock-related supplies and equipment.
- Ensure accurate handling of transactions related to docking, mooring, and beach services.
- Report and document any safety concerns, maintenance needs, or guest incidents to hotel management
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Knowledge of docking procedures, mooring operations, and boating safety regulations.
- Ability to provide outstanding guest service with a professional and welcoming demeanor.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional maritime or hospitality certifications preferred.
- Previous experience in marina operations, hospitality, or a similar role.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Captain’s license, 6 pack or above
