The Bindery Clerk has one of the most important jobs in our shop! You would be responsible for performing finishing and binding operations on printed materials in a fast-paced environment. This role ensures that finished products meet quality standards and deadlines, supporting the overall production workflow. Duties include operating bindery equipment, assembling printed materials, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Responsibilities
Operate bindery equipment such as cutters, folders, laminators, collators, staplers, and hole punches to produce high-quality finished products.
Perform hand-finishing tasks, including folding, cutting, and assembling printed materials.
Manage inventory of bindery supplies, notifying the manager when restocking is needed.
Collaborate with other departments, such as customer service and other production areas, to clarify order requirements and resolve issues.
Perform other duties as assigned to support production and overall shop operations.
Verify accuracy of print jobs by checking specifications against order tickets / lines.
Pack and prepare completed orders for shipment or delivery.
Maintain and troubleshoot bindery equipment, reporting any issues to the supervisor.
Organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
Ensure all work complies with quality standards and customer expectations.
Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized area.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Prior experience in a print shop or bindery setting is a plus but not required; on-the-job training provided.
Familiarity with reading spreadsheets and basic computer skills.
Ability to perform basic math calculations for measurements and material use.
Ability to effectively communicate with account managers on projects.
Able to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and meet tight deadlines.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
