Job Summary:
The Day Porter is responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across all areas of the assigned building(s). This includes performing routine cleaning tasks, addressing urgent cleaning needs, and maintaining the overall appearance of the facility. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, follow all safety and sanitation guidelines, and uphold the values and culture of The Professional Group by providing exceptional service. This role is key in creating a positive experience for staff, visitors, and clients and includes duties such as disinfecting surfaces, maintaining restrooms, managing waste removal, and responding promptly to specific cleaning requests.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior janitorial experience is preferred but not required; we are willing to train the right
candidate who fits our culture.
Must hold a valid driver’s license and pass a DMV check.
Comfortable driving a company-issued vehicle from the Grand Rapids office to various
locations, sometimes up to an hour away.
Ability to work both independently and within a team.
Must be flexible for weekend shifts as part of a rotating schedule.
Full-time schedule (minimum 30 hours per week), with shift start at 6:00 am; location
and shift length will vary based on work ticket requests.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Clean and disinfect restrooms, including walls, doors, sinks, toilets, and mirrors; sweep
and mop floors; remove trash and replace bags; and restock paper products and soap.
Empty trash containers and replace bags in public and secured areas; spot clean and
disinfect door handles, railings, escalators, and elevators as needed.
Dust flat surfaces, vacuum carpeted areas, and mop hard floors; pick up debris and clean
spills as necessary.
Disinfect seating and handrails in boarding areas and ramps; vacuum and mop as
required.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Report all accidents, incidents, damages, or client concerns to the supervisor
immediately.
Act polite and professional at all times.
Adhere to and follow all of the safety practices and procedures.
Promote a positive image of The Professional Group’s culture and values.
Position Requirements:
Education: High school diploma preferred.
Work Flexibility: Must be able to work varying shifts and rotating weekends.
Physical Requirements:
o Sustained periods of standing, walking, sitting, and kneeling.
o Ability to lift 5-10 pounds regularly.
o Must be able to pass a background check for work in a federal building.
Additional Requirements: Must be able to communicate effectively in English to
perform job duties safely and efficiently.
