The Project is excited to announce that we are seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support Two Rivers Pharmacy, which is independently owned and operated by The Project of the Quad Cities. The Pharmacy Technician works under the supervision of the Pharmacist in Charge to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of medications to patients.

Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Summary/Objective

A Pharmacy Technician plays a vital role in supporting pharmacy operations The primary responsibilities include assisting with the dispensing of medications, maintaining inventory, and providing excellent customer service. The Pharmacy Technician works under the supervision of the Pharmacist in Charge to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of medications to patients.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Dispensing Medications: Assist pharmacists in accurately dispensing prescription medications to patients, including counting tablets, measuring liquid medications, and labeling prescriptions.
  • Prescription Processing: Receive prescription orders from patients or healthcare providers, enter prescription information into the pharmacy computer system, and ensure accuracy and completeness of prescription data.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain pharmacy inventory by ordering medications and supplies, monitoring stock levels, and organizing shelves to optimize space and accessibility.
  • Customer Service: Provide friendly and helpful customer service to patients, including answering phone calls, addressing inquiries about medications, and assisting with insurance-related issues.
  • Prescription Filling: Prepare prescription orders by selecting the appropriate medication, measuring and packaging doses, and labeling prescriptions with accurate instructions for use.
  • Pharmacy Operations: Assist with various pharmacy operations, such as processing payments, managing cash registers, and maintaining cleanliness and organization within the pharmacy.
  • Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and pharmacy policies to ensure compliance with medication safety standards and patient privacy regulations.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of prescription transactions, inventory levels, and other pharmacy activities as required by law and pharmacy policies.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance activities, including medication error reporting, inventory audits, and medication storage inspections, to ensure the safe and effective delivery of pharmacy services.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay informed about developments in pharmacy practice, including new medications, regulations, and technologies, and participate in continuing education activities to enhance professional knowledge and skills.

Physical Demands

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment, with typical office noise and other disruption.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Both standing and sitting are required.

Various types of equipment/supplies are used to accomplish the job requirements and include, but are not limited to, calculators, computer keyboards, telephone, printers, scanner, copier etc.

  • The employee may be required to lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 25 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Normal hours of work and days for TPQC are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. Hours may flex depending on clinic scheduling and pharmacy and client needs.

Travel

No overnight travel is expected for this position.

Requirements:


Compensation

Compensation starts at $17.55/hr . The final offered salary is determined by years of professional experience beyond the minimum requirement, with an additional 2.5% for those proficient in a second language relevant to the role. Our compensation structure is experience-centric and not contingent on education. As part of our commitment to pay equity, salaries are non-negotiable and include an annual cost of living increase.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 1 Year of experience as a licensed Pharmacy Technician

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)
  • LGBTQ, HIV/AIDS, people of color, and other marginalized community group experience
  • Sexual health, public health, communicable, infectious disease experience
