Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and reliable Facilities Associate to join our team. The Facilities Associate will play a key role in maintaining and ensuring the smooth operation of all hotel systems and physical infrastructure. This role is responsible for performing routine maintenance, responding to repairs, and ensuring the hotel’s facilities are clean, safe, and functional for both guests and staff. The ideal candidate should be handy with various maintenance tools and equipment, possess a strong knowledge of hotel infrastructure, and be dedicated to keeping the hotel in excellent condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular inspections of the hotel’s buildings, guest rooms, public areas, and equipment to identify any maintenance or safety concerns.
- Conduct repairs and preventative maintenance for hotel equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and appliances.
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of furniture, fixtures, and other hotel property.
- Respond promptly to guest requests for maintenance assistance, including issues like plumbing, air conditioning, or electrical malfunctions.
- Ensure all facilities and equipment are in good working condition, conducting tests and calibrations as necessary.
- Work closely with the housekeeping and front desk teams to ensure the hotel’s overall cleanliness and functionality.
- Handle emergency repairs or equipment breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner.
- Coordinate with outside contractors or service providers for specialized maintenance tasks.
- Keep detailed logs of maintenance activities, including issues addressed, actions taken, and any parts or equipment used.
- Ensure that all safety standards and local regulations (e.g., fire codes, OSHA regulations) are adhered to and maintain a safe working environment.
- Assist in managing the hotel’s inventory of maintenance supplies and materials, ordering replacements as needed.
- Maintain the hotel’s exterior, including grounds, parking lot, and building entrance, ensuring the property is presentable and safe for guests.
- Participate in training programs to stay current on new equipment, safety procedures, and best practices.
- Provide excellent customer service to guests when addressing maintenance issues or concerns.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or vocational training in building maintenance is a plus.
- Previous experience in hotel facilities management, maintenance, or a related field.
- Knowledge of common building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general carpentry.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair a variety of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with hotel staff, guests, and contractors.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift heavy items (up to [insert weight, e.g., 50 lbs]) and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, and carry heavy objects for extended periods.
