Summary:
The Assistant Health Center Director collaborates with the Health Center Director to manage the daily operations of Dental and Specialty clinics across multiple sites in a high-volume health center, ensuring efficient workflows, exceptional patient care, and adherence to organizational goals. This position provides oversight of administrative and clinical staff, supports the optimization of operational performance, and drives quality improvement initiatives tailored to these service lines. Acting as a bridge between staff and leadership, the Assistant Health Center Director fosters collaboration, enhances team effectiveness, and contributes to the growth and success of the health center.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Operational Support
- Assist in managing daily center operations, including patient flow, scheduling, and resource management.
- Identify and address operational inefficiencies to improve patient experience and staff productivity.
- Oversee compliance with health center policies, procedures, and workflows, ensuring consistency and alignment with organizational goals.
Staff Supervision and Development
- Provide direct supervision and support to administrative and clinical staff, including RNs, health center assistants, dental assistants, and front desk teams.
- Navigate labor relations in a unionized environment, maintaining compliance with collective bargaining agreements and fostering positive employee relationships.
- Assist in onboarding, training, and performance management for staff, fostering professional growth and accountability.
- Support the Health Center Director in coordinating staffing schedules and arranging coverage to meet patient demand.
Financial and Resource Management
- Monitor operational expenses and assist in managing departmental budgets under the guidance of the Health Center Director.
- Support efforts to enhance revenue generation through efficient service delivery and adherence to billing processes.
- Participate in supply chain management to ensure cost-effective procurement and resource utilization.
Quality and Compliance
- Collaborate with the Health Center Director to implement quality improvement initiatives focused on patient satisfaction, accessibility, and care outcomes.
- Conduct regular audits of workflows, documentation, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Address patient and staff concerns to resolve issues efficiently while maintaining high standards of care.
Community Engagement and Patient Relations
- Act as a point of contact for patient feedback, concerns, and inquiries, ensuring timely resolution and improved patient experiences.
- Support the Health Center Director in representing the organization at community events and with local stakeholders.
Technology and Data Support
- Assist with the adoption and utilization of healthcare technologies, including EHR systems and data analytics tools.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and report findings to the Health Center Director for strategic decision-making.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, public health, business administration, or a related field preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Experience in outpatient or ambulatory care settings preferred.
- Familiarity with managing staff in a unionized environment is a plus.
