What are the responsibilities and job description for the Upper School Mathematics Teacher and Advisor position at The Providence Country Day School?
Providence Country Day School, an independent school serving students in grades PK-12, seeks a dynamic, versatile educator who will serve as a full-time mathematics teacher and advisor. Interested candidates should be qualified to teach higher level math through the PreCalculus level and, preferably, through the Calculus / AP Calculus level.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced educator who is enthusiastic about working with students in grades 9-12, has strong interpersonal and communication skills, is a collaborative team player, and is comfortable integrating math with technology, science, and engineering. Experience or background with computer science, engineering and applied math is a plus. PCD teachers are able to cultivate creative problem solving, critical thinking and higher-order mathematical reasoning skills. This teacher should plan to be part of a collaborative and versatile faculty team and an integral component of students’ lives, in the classroom, as a department member, and as an advisor.
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree (or higher) and will be comfortable using educational and discipline-specific technology. Full participation in the advisory program, active and consistent use of Google Classroom as the primary learning management system, and commitment to on-going education and innovation are required professional standards. In addition to teaching and advising, PCD faculty impact the lives of students through club leadership, coaching, or other extra curricular opportunities.
