What will this position do?

The Production Manager is primarily responsible for overseeing and maintaining the production schedule as well as leading and developing production staff with an ongoing commitment to quality and safety.


Your primary responsibility will be to provide leadership and guidance to production staff to produce buildings that are on time, in-spec, and above quality.


The Production Manager will be someone who is Proactive, Passionate, has excellent Partnership, and is a natural Problem Solver.


A Production Manager's Top Three Priorities:

  • Priority #1 - Develop production department leads and employees to produce on time, in-spec, and above quality buildings.
  • Priority #2 - Recruit for and supply production departments with the proper staffing, training, cross-training, and tools to be successful.
  • Priority #3 - Create new processes and standards that reduce bottlenecks, mistakes, and rework; aiming to increase efficiency.


What else will you do?


MANAGE

  • Oversees the production staff through all phases of construction.
  • Ensure employees are following company policies and safety guidelines as well as meeting applicable production deadlines.
  • Set production goals for production staff and communicate the goals to the production team as well as upper management.
  • Provide motivation, support, leadership, training, guidance, and employee coaching and feedback to all production employees.
  • Participate in recruitment for new production staff by interviewing potential new employees.


PRODUCTION PLANNING AND EXECUTION

  • Generate project scheduling for all phases of construction by executing the production priority set forth by the company.
  • Schedule, lead and assist with pre-construction meetings at different stages of production.
  • Anticipate bottlenecks, identify project priorities, and escalate issues that cannot be internally resolved.
  • Act as a resource to production staff by providing problem solving.
  • Ensure quality of work consistently meets or exceeds company production standards.
  • Assists other internal departments to review designs and provide guidance on constructability.


PRODUCTION IMPROVEMENT

  • Document any project re-work along with steps on how to mitigate any similar future re-work.
  • Communicate problems and obstacles with resolution suggestions to management.
  • Identify and implement workflow procedures to eliminate waste and improve efficiency without compromising product safety or quality.
  • Strive to increase productivity and reduce labor costs.


MANAGE DOCUMENTATION, COMMUNICATION, AND REPORTING

  • Daily progress report and weekly schedule updates.
  • Perform related duties and assist others as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 5-10 years of construction experience with multiple construction trades. General construction knowledge, including ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Required: Construction project management.
  • Required: Experience planning, management, and reporting.
  • Lean experience is a plus.
  • Experience with safety protocols and procedures.
  • Minimum: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Preferred: Vocational/Technical School/College degree.
  • OSHA 30 Certification(s) required.


TECHNOLOGY EXPERIENCE

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.


SKILLS

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and in a calm and pleasant manner.
  • Promote and demonstrate effective communication, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read and write checklists, reports, and correspondence. Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, memos, etc.
  • Ability to analyze and perform complex computations with reasonable speed and accuracy. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Must be able to perform repetitive motions and have adequate hand/eye/foot coordination. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis. The noise level in the work environment is usually mid-level.


The overall nature of the position is active requiring some physical effort and exertion. There is regular exposure to environmental conditions such as heat, cold, temperature changes, vibrations, and hazards.
