Hands-on learning is embedded in the school’s culture: a working dairy farm, expansive arts offerings, a robust work program, miles of wooded trails, and large solar arrays serve our curriculum. Employees are also part of an intentional residential experience that values belonging and community. We seek applicants who find joy in their work and help others realize how much fun authentic, student-centered learning can be. The school cultivates and sustains an educational community that values differences. Responsibilities
- Teach eight classes per year; and work with students on independent, project-based work and senior exhibitions.
- Lead afternoon and/or evening activities in arts, athletics, or another area of expertise.
- Contribute to curriculum development and collaborate with faculty from various academic disciplines to design and co-teach interdisciplinary classes.
- Conference regularly with students and write detailed reports on student performance.
- Serve as a dorm parent and advise 6-8 students.
- Competitive compensation, depending on experience.

- An academic background suitable for teaching math, preferably with extensions to the canonical high school curriculum i.e. robotics, computer programming, financial math, etc.
- Three or more years of experience teaching high school mathematics is preferred.
- Possessing a demonstrated ability to teach to a wide range of student abilities and levels.
- Possessing an interest in educational design and collaborating with colleagues to develop innovative pedagogies.
- The ideal candidate will be inquisitive, energetic, flexible, collegial, engaged by Putney’s mission and creative ethos, and committed to working with adolescents in all aspects of Putney’s program.
