Job Description:

The Express Sales & Service Manager is responsible for increasing hotel revenue by proactively selling and servicing new and returning group bookings. The markets for this role include, but are not limited to, sports teams, youth groups, small corporate groups, wedding room blocks and social room blocks. The Express Sales & Service Manager will field inquiries, quote rates, draft appropriate contracts, arrange billing, create group resumes and event orders as needed. On the day of arrival, the ESSM will greet the client to ensure they are welcomed and set up for success during their time on property.

Responsibilities:

• Respond to inquiries in a timely manner and proactively source, qualify and book new business for the hotel where opportunities arise.

• Establish and maintain positive business and customer relationships, with a service-oriented approach.

• Negotiate room rates and special concessions with prospective clients.

• Conduct site tours as needed.

• Once a group is contracted, work with client and various hotel departments to plan all aspects of the group’s stay and/or events to include, but not limited to:

o Monitoring room night pick-up, reservation cut-off dates, hotel rooming lists, VIP room assignments, amenity requests, arrival/departure details, bag pulls, luggage storage, housekeeping details, etc.

o Food and beverage requirements, timing of events, audio-visual requirements, function room set up, floor plans, special meal requests, detailed billing instructions, etc.

• Prepare complete, accurate and timely Banquet Event Orders and Group Resumes with all important details of the group to be distributed to other hotel departments.

• Assist with servicing other groups and bookings as needed, as assigned by the Director of Sales to support the team

• Strive to achieve a balance between service standards and the profitability of the organization.

• Build relationships and maintain rapport with competitor hotels, the local community and more.

Requirements:

• 1-2 years of previous experience in Hotel Sales, Hotel Rooms Division, or in similar Sales or Hospitality role.

• Requires some weekend and evening availability based on levels of business, schedule of events, group arrival times

• May require work on holidays to assist with our public-events (Easter Brunch, Mother’s Day Brunch, Thanksgiving Buffet NYE Party). (Time and half holiday pay will apply when applicable)

• Ability to handle multiple clients, ongoing programs, onsite groups, and high-pressure situations.

• Strong time management skills and ability to balance current and future business.

• Strong interpersonal skills to provide overall guest satisfaction and work with a team.

• Strong organizational skills and demonstrates a detail-oriented nature.

• Excellent communication skills: verbal, written and non-verbal.

• Presents appropriately and professionally on and off property as a representative of the hotel.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google Apps (Slides, Docs, Sheets)

• Experience with other hotel operating systems (such as STS, Opera, Delphi, etc.) is preferred.

• Must be able to stand/walk/step for extended periods of time.

• Must be able to lift as much as 20 pounds.
