Tax Attorney
We are seeking an experienced JD / LLM Tax professional with a deep understanding of restructuring, tax planning, and family office services. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of tax laws, estate planning, mergers and acquisitions, and wealth management for ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNW). You will be an integral part of the family office tax practice. working closely with family members, external advisors, and internal teams to manage and optimize the family’s tax strategies and assets.
Key Responsibilities :
- Tax Mitigation, Strategy & Planning :
- Develop and implement comprehensive tax strategies for family members and entities, focusing on tax efficiency across multiple jurisdictions.
- Advise on tax implications of complex restructuring transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, liquidations, and spin-offs.
- Provide expertise on estate, gift, trust, and wealth transfer strategies while maximizing tax savings.
- Restructuring :
- Lead and support restructuring initiatives involving the family’s assets, businesses, and investments.
- Analyze and advise on tax consequences of restructuring options, identifying risks and opportunities.
- Collaborate with external legal and tax advisors to ensure successful execution of restructuring efforts.
- Wealth Management & Estate Planning :
- Design tax-efficient estate plans, leveraging trusts, charitable vehicles, and other advanced planning techniques.
- Provide ongoing advice on estate and succession planning, working closely with the family office team to ensure alignment with the family’s long-term goals.
- Manage family members' personal tax compliance, including preparing and reviewing complex tax returns.
- Legal & Compliance :
- Ensure the family office remains in compliance with U.S. and international tax regulations, including FATCA, CRS, and other applicable laws.
- Work with legal advisors on transactions and contracts, reviewing for tax and legal risks.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, advising on changes impacting the family office’s tax and legal strategies.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration :
- Work closely with investment, legal, and accounting teams to align tax planning with the family’s overall financial and investment strategies.
