Nuclear Medicine Support Technician
Purpose
The NM Support Specialist is responsible for ensuring the Nuclear Medicine Technologist has the information required to perform PET/CT exams and NM exams to the ACR standard while maintaining an A patient experience.
Essential Functions
- Research scheduled exams for previous studies and incorrect information.
- Reconcile orders sent from referring physician to the correct location in Synapse.
- Build patient folder in RIS System by merging exams, updating patient history and
any lab work necessary for Radiologist interpretation.
- Assist PET scan workups and call patients to review exam prep and appointment
time.
- Assist with escorting patients to and from the clinical departments.
- Assisting with radiation safety duties (distribution of radiation badges)
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills
- The ideal candidate would be well-rounded, have extensive knowledge and
understanding of NM procedures, and enjoy direct patient interaction.
- The ideal candidate would have a basic knowledge of PET/CT workup protocols.
- Medical Industry Experience a plus.
- Superior problem-solving skills.
- Strong project management skills (planning and execution) with demonstrated
ability to multi-task and set priorities within tight timelines.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to handle moderately complex assignments under
minimal supervision.
- Must be educated in and compliant with HIPAA.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
Computer Skills
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, and
Outlook.
- RIS/PACS computer skills
- Knowledge of e-mail/scheduling software applications.
Physical Work Demands
- Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods.
- Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach daily.
- Able to perform general office administrative activities: copying, filing, delivering,
and using the telephone.
- Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Requires normal, correctable vision and hearing.

- Regular and on-time attendance.
- Excellent communication skills
- Occasional travel by conventional means, including aircraft, motor vehicle, and the
like, within the region and to other locations as required.
