Note: We are very excited to be opening this new role which will work out of our Dallas Office in Grapevine. This role will be an in-office role.
VALUE OF THIS ROLE
The Cost Accountant plays a vital role in our operations, supporting four key areas: profitability analysis, fixed assets, financial reporting, and overall finance team support. This position ensures company leadership has accurate financial data for strategic decision-making. As a key contributor to timely month-end closings, the Cost Accountant helps the Executive Leadership Team monitor financial performance effectively. By recommending process improvements and standardizing procedures, this role enhances operational efficiency and strengthens team performance.
This is a newly created position, ideal for someone eager to shape its responsibilities and add value at the branch level. The Cost Accountant will work closely with our Texas-based team to ensure alignment with Headquarters’ SOPs, while reporting directly to the Operations Controller in Richmond, BC. This independent role requires a proactive professional who can work autonomously while collaborating effectively with branch operations.

CORE AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
The primary focus of this role will be managing and analyzing job costs.
Installation Job and Service Ticket Profitability Analysis
- Work closely with Operations team in monthly job closing.
- Provide profitability analysis and variance to budget commentary.
- Manage open WIP job and ticket listings.
- Assist with equipment capitalization and depreciation model.
- Provides guidance to branch operations in alignment to company SOP’s.
Accounts Receivable
- Create new customer account set-up and manage customer portal activities.
- Process daily check & ACH deposits.
- Weekly & monthly reporting.
Accounts Payable
- Coordinate new vendor account set-up and monthly statement reconciliations.
- Manage Open Receipts subledger.
- Reconcile Expensify reports to monthly US Bank statements.
- Support in responding to vendor inquiries and reviewing vendor bills.
Inventory
- Reconcile inventory updates & adjustments.
- Prepare monthly inventory reports and analysis.
- Schedule & conduct physical inventory counts in the warehouse & technician vehicles.
- Assist with Standard Costing/PPV Analysis.
Fixed Assets
- Manage & maintain Capital Asset Subledger.
- Month end additions/disposals/depreciation entries.
- Maintain vehicle capital & operating leases & fleet expense.
Financial Reporting
- Support month-end financial closing.
- Produce financial reporting relating to technician overhead costs and SG&A expenses for the branch.
- Reporting of Texas commodity taxes.
- Assist with Year End Auditor Review.
- Assist with Budget and Forecast.
General Team Support
- Support with the implementation of the new ERP system.
- Create and modify existing SOPs to help ensure standardization within the department.
- Recommend enhancements to existing processes and actively participate in implementing new ideas.
- Prepare reports and complete other tasks as required.

- Experience: 3 years of hands-on Cost Accounting or Finance experience, including 1–2 years in Construction, Manufacturing, or a related industry.
- Education: Diploma/Degree in Accounting.

- Computer Skills: Prior experience working with an ERP System/s. Along with being proficient with the use of Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel. .
- Reporting Skills: Power BI (Business Intelligence Reporting) is an asset.
