Position Description
The Director of Engineering oversees all maintenance and engineering operations in addition to being responsible for all capital projects and improvements. Accountable for maintaining facilities- including building structures, all mechanical, electrical, fire systems, IT Systems, HVAC systems and related equipment. Responsible for administering outside engineering vendor contracts and prepares and executes an annual operating budget. Additionally, the Director of Engineering oversees the Vehicle Maintenance department on Ranch.
Keeps all maintenance records up to date and complies with internal and external quality assurance guidelines as well as maintains and administers the maintenance CMMS system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Directs general and preventative maintenance for all Ranch facilities, equipment, and property.
2. Direct, schedules and supervise the activities of Maintenance Associates, Grounds Crew, and Informational Technology team.
3. Ensure all projects, including, but not limited to: routine maintenance, repairs, replacement and renovation projects, are completed on time and according to specifications.
4. Maintain a safe working environment throughout The Ranch for all employees and guest, enforce safety guidelines and building awareness.
5. Directs the establishment of the maintenance department’s annual operating budget and is also responsible for establishing an annual capital improvement budget in collaboration with other staff and operating department.
6. Develops/secure quotations or cost for maintenance and capital projects for approval by General Manager.
7. Ensure there is an adequate inventory of materials, parts, and equipment/tools to execute maintenance and capital projects in a timely manner.
8. Responsible for material, service, and labor cost. Review and approves all material and maintenance equipment purchase and billing for outside contractors’ services and consultants.
9. Provide necessary training to maintenance personnel to ensure qualified skills in the performance of their duties.
10. Ensures facilities, equipment, and departmental personnel are operating in conformity with local, state, and federal regulations and codes.
11. Ensures structural safety, proper sanitation, preservation and fire protection of all Ranch property and equipment.
12. Direct all management of Ranch water systems/wells and water treatment. Determine the treatment of water to remove impurities according to analysis of water and water system.
13. Responsible for staffing including interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new employees.
14. Keeps all maintenance records up to date and complies with internal and external quality assurance guidelines as well as maintains and administers the maintenance CMMS system.
15. Additional duties as assigned by the General Manager.
Education/Experience
1. Degree in engineering or related discipline such as Facilities Engineering, Construction Management, Building Technology or seven (7) to ten (10) years of professional equivalent managerial/supervisory level experience.
2. Hold at least one trade certificate.
3. Experience leading a team of at least six (6) direct reports.
4. Previous experience as a Director of Engineering or Assistant Director of Engineering required.
5. Experience in hotel engineering operations for a hotel chain or full-service hotel or equivalent preferred.
6. Ability to prepare and execute construction management program.
7. Familiar with large commercial laundry, steam boiler heating systems, water purification, and fleet vehicle operations.
8. Experience working with OSHA/Federal Government safety and health requirements.
9. Ability to consistently lift 50 pounds.
10. Ability to safely work in all weather conditions for extended periods of time.
11. Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving history.
