POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The Fitness Instructor is responsible for helping individuals of all ages and fitness levels improve their physical health and wellness through guided instruction and training. This role includes leading private or semi-private sessions and group fitness classes, evaluating participant performance, and creating personalized fitness plans in a safe, fun, and motivating environment.
POSITION FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
Work is performed in indoor and outdoor fitness settings with variable noise and activity levels. Must be able to tolerate a dynamic and energetic environment. Schedule may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as business needs dictate.

POSITION FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
- Ensure the safety of participants and surroundings to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Design and implement appropriate workouts based on clients’ fitness levels, goals, and any physical limitations.
- Instruct individuals and groups in proper exercise techniques, form, and safety protocols.
- Promote health and wellness while teaching proper use of fitness equipment.
- Evaluate participant progress and adjust training programs as needed.
- Maintain accurate attendance and progress records for each client or class.
- Report all incidents, concerns, feedback, complaints, emergencies, hazards, or faulty equipment to the Youth Director.
- Remain knowledgeable of and comply with the Club’s standards, policies, and procedures to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Utilize NorthStar with skill and proficiency for scheduling and handling all sales transactions.
- Attend all required staff meetings and trainings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Proven experience as a personal trainer or group fitness instructor required.
- Nationally recognized personal training and/or group fitness certification preferred (e.g., ACE, NASM, AFAA).
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification required (training available).
- Passion and enthusiasm for fitness and helping others reach their goals.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and basic nutrition preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds
- Continuous walking, standing, and active movement during sessions
- Frequent bending, lifting, squatting, twisting, and stretching
- Must be able to demonstrate physical exercises and proper form
- Must be able to communicate instructions clearly and effectively
- Must be able to make quick decisions and maintain composure under pressure
- Must be comfortable providing encouragement and feedback in a positive and professional manner
